The Accumulator is a power generation structure of the United States Army.

Gameplay[]

Accumulator is a strange and unique building, compact, strong and comes with a power reserve.

Essentially a mix of Power Plant and Field Generator, the Accumulator blends strength size and function well, rendering Field Generator moot for the most part but still teams up well with Power Plant when they get too big to fit in certain places. What makes the Accumulator special is its ability to store electricity, reserving it for later use in the event of a power shortage. Though not as intensive on power as the Chimera, the bulk of US Army's offensive force and Phalanx nevertheless are good as useless without the power necessary to keep them running. Perhaps the most significant is Patriot, as Accumulator can stall for the few extra seconds needed to restore power and stop an enemy super weapon, which can very well mean the difference between a stalemate and a disaster.

However, it's not all positives. Unlike the Chimera and Cartel, whose equivalents are accessible much earlier and cheaper, Accumulator is locked behind DEFCON 1 and costs rare earth to produce. Though 500 aluminum isn't too high to cough up considering the Power Plant takes up just as much per space occupied, the alternative of paying credits is much more feasible to keep the base topped up at all times, negating the necessity of a temporary insurance provided by the Accumulator. Things are further complicated by the fact that Accumulators do not fulfill the requirement for building certain structures on their own and can only be constructed next to either a Field Generator or Power Plant itself, meaning as much as it could outshine its counterparts, it ironically needs them to an extent, sometimes useful but easily superseded elsewhere. Even so, Accumulators should never be completely dismissed, with the great power they hold in their sole unique attribute.
