The LOSAT is an Anti-Armor Vehicle of the Cartel.

Gameplay[]

LOSATs are lightly armored and attack slowly, but each packs a huge wallop. Later upgrades allow them to gain stealth and deliver double the damage.

Inconspicuous, LOSAT's main strength is its incredibly high damage to anything it hits, be it buildings, vehicles or infantry. This level of destruction is comparable to the likes of NLOS-C, and even in very small quantities, they're able to dish out enough punishment to erase key structures or units that could make all the difference in a battle. Once it gets burst fire, even a single LOSAT can spell doom, and hordes of them would mean total annihilation. While it is unable to target air units, its HMG provides it some protection against helicopters that can add up easily, and 20 health is a lot for a usually disposable unit, not to mention its significantly higher range as well as stealth that allows it to sneak behind enemy lines. LOSAT is also one of the few units in the entire game that only costs rare earth, and considering Cartel's access to Underground Stock Market, it's not too difficult for them to amass LOSATs for use, either as support during an attack, or for harassment. Speaking of harassment, LOSAT gets the job done far more effectively than either the Metal Storm or Comanche, as it isn't very fragile and only needs to get in one or two hits to either empty a building of enemy infantry, or destroy lightly guarded enemy structures.

What LOSATs offer would have been incredible, but they also have a series of downdsides that must be factored in. Without stealth, LOSATs are far more vulnerable as they can be destroyed from a distance, especially enemy air units. Their low fire rate also needs to be accounted for, as they may or may not get in a second hit if they waste their first on an unintended target, only for them to be destroyed shortly after. Though their HMG does offer them some effective defense, LOSATs remain extremely vulnerable to aerial threats, as while they can shoot down helicopters and destroy infantry, they cannot defend themselves otherwise as their missiles do not target air either. Using LOSAT is also a risky investment, as rare earth can be difficult to pool and secure in general, and while LOSATs can be spammed in huge quantities to mitigate this, Rare Earth consumption can skyrocket and become unsustainable or start fighting with upgrades. LOSATs however reign extreme in the realm of stealth and ambush with their sheer force, and can be put to good use in many situations.
