Gameplay[]

NLOS-C is a devastating artillery unit, slow and fragile but packing serious brute force at medium range. They can be upgraded to gain incendiary munitions, accuracy boosts, range increases and burst count.

The most fearsome attribute of NLOS-C solely lies in its sheer destructive force. Its high-velocity artillery shells do heavy damage from a moderately long range that punishes all units alike, with an already reasonable accuracy to begin with. It is an exceptional choice in besieging fortified enemy positions or defending bases against land units, able to destroy enemy artillery with ease through counter-battery fire and cripple strong frontline vehicles, while anything weaker gets wiped out in one blast. This combined with the support of friendly units makes it a force to be reckoned with. With very precise direction, it can even be used to take out stationary enemy helicopters. Accessible as soon as DEFCON 2 is avaliable and only taking a relatively low amount of aluminum, they are quite easy to accumulate early on and to provide a near-impenetrable defense against ground attacks from a specified direction. When augmented with MRSI, their power multiplies dramatically as they burst fire numerous shells, destroying nearly anything with one or two bursts. One or two could be already nasty, and with several, many ground attacks attempting to storm its position are rendered completely futile, as well as any efforts to recover from its barrage. Sometimes all one needs to make a difference is a tactical airlifting of an NLOS-C by Osprey.

Within its specialization, the NLOS-C is near-unmatched, though it still has a couple of problems. It is too slow, completely unable to defend itself from many threats, and being lightly armored, can be easily taken down by enemy air support, enemy artillery or even a Scorpio, instead heavily reliant on range to keep itself safe. As a result, it can be a risky option to take it on a siege, even if losses can be quickly replaced. Just like many others, While its high accuracy ensures concentrated damage, it cannot shower large areas and will be vulnerable to larger groups of weaker foes, wasting most of its damage. Likewise, since it literally nukes whatever it hits, incendiary munitions don't actually do much compared to Stryker MC or Mortar. Though they are cheap for what they do, 1000 aluminum can cause it to fight for the production of other upgrades, and even with their Logistical Center improvements, it can easily eat away at essential resources that are sometimes better spent elsewhere. However, NLOS-C's raw power should never be dismissed for how far it gets.
