White Wolves Extinction is the second mission of the Beyond the Mirror campaign in Act of Aggression. This mission is unlocked after completing Highway to Serbia.[1]

Background[]

A few hours after Raul Escobedo's death, "Poseidon" brings the news to Piet Vermaak as well as the Chimera's interest on them. Vermaak advises the Cartel to take precautions, and eliminate all leads. "Poseidon" agrees, and announces their next objective - Eliminate Dragan Vesnic, leader of the Belyie Volki, and wipe out any clues that could implicate Cartel's involvement. Vermaak was curious, as Cartel had actually employed them for destabilization of Transnistra. "Poseidon" tells him while the White Wolves are indeed useful, they have since became a liability due to current circumstances.

Armor Annihilation[]

A column of armored units appear, being recalled by the Belyie Volki. Zhang Yao suggests eliminating as many of them as possible to ease their oncoming assault. A column of Black Eagles, Skerezhets and T55AM2s then appear. Cartel had set recon units, transport vehicles and a small base for producing anti-armor units. With limited resources, Cartel forces then begin rallying their forces and dropping them off in various locations for the optimal result.

Not long after their setup, additional enemy armor appear, intent on returning to base. Skirmishes erupt between Cartel units and the White Wolves, with both sides taking some losses. In between the waves Cartel reinforcements slowly pour in to replace their losses at strategic locations, ensuring they can catch as many as possible. Eventually, enemy activity cease and Yao believes that was the last.

Surgical Insertion[]

"Poseidon" comes into contact once again, claiming their mission at the Hague went well before enemy suppression arrived. Superhinds are sent to launch an assault, but Zhang Yao's warning comes too late, and enemy air defenses destroy them. Nevertheless, additional units do appear. With heavy enemy presence everywhere and direct action being unfeasible, Cartel has to figure out where to safely land their units, fighting or avoiding enemy resistance as much as possible while stealth recon units update enemy activity. With some effort, they were able to reach the White Wolves' HQ.

Double Take[]

Having presumably eliminated Vesnic, Cartel forces disable all AA units in the vicinity. "Poseidon" then announces the impending arrival of Valkyries to finish the job. Though Zhang Yao plans to destroy all evidence, they are advised by "Poseidon" to leave immediately due to an unexpected arrival of a Chimera force lead by Greg C. Schaefer.

Walkthrough[]

The first segment is mostly optional. You will be given some Extension Modules to store resources, a static BREM-80U to heal vehicles, an unusable Vehicles Bay and a Barracks. Destroying each armored unit awards some credits and aluminum, and a Spectre if they're all gone alongside the associated achievement. Fill the Barracks' production queue and the Vextra with twice the amount of Vipers as Shershens. A Scout CGS is parked near the enemy spawn location, with no weapons or transport capacity. It can't be controlled and mostly provides an overview, though putting some Vipers and Shershens in nearby buildings is still ideal, with Vipers ahead and Shershens deeper within to ensure the latter can exploit their range. The other ideal area to deploy anti-armor units would be near the end where the armor units congregate.

The first wave of enemy armor will arrive in 3 minutes, enough for a second batch of troops to guard the first junction. Each progressive wave has more tanks and a delay of only 90 seconds, so try to reinforce the first only once and focus primarily on the second, allowing them to catch any targets that manage to survive. If a wave goes smooth, it's recommended to save manually and load the save just in case if the next goes south. The Vextra can be used in a last ditch effort to deal additional chip damage and stall the tanks a little longer. Don't worry about its destruction as the game will always send replacements when it is wrecked.

Once the tanks are gone, the Scout CGS and BREM-80U will rejoin you. You can now produce Contractors and Superhinds, several of which also appear near the Barracks. Use the Scout CGS and Spectre (if avaliable) to conduct recon on enemy locations and figure out their positions if necessary. Don't let the Spectre open fire.

The best way to get to the HQ without destroying a single enemy unit is with the Vextra and Scorpio. Scorpios can fire smoke rockets to obscure enemy sight, and when used correctly, can cover a choke point on the bridge to prevent the Black Eagles from attacking Vextra, whose speed should be able to make it out there with some damage. It's preferred to load it with Contractors and save the game before charging. Though there are some resistance before the bridge, they aren't enough to destroy both vehicles. After getting the Vextra to a safe place the rest of the mission involves avoiding the Black Eagles with help from stealth units and getting to the White Wolves' HQ. It's actually unoccupied and as soon as a single infantry unit gets in the mission is done, but nearby militia units often prevent that unless the Vextra is drive very close up. Unload them all, and it's unlikely for all of them to be destroyed before they manage to sneak by.
